Roger Perry

Founder & Chairman

Roger Perry is the Founder and Chairman of East West Partners Management Inc., a real estate development company based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. With over 50 years of experience, he has helped plan and build mixed-use communities throughout North Carolina and Virginia, drawing on his expertise in master planning, negotiation, and relationship-building.

Roger began his career in 1972 with the Sea Pines Company at River Hills Plantation near Charlotte. He later moved to Richmond, Virginia, where he served as senior vice president of sales and marketing at Brandermill. In 1983, he returned to North Carolina to lead the development of the award-winning Woodcroft, an 800-acre community in Durham near Research Triangle Park. Other notable developments include Falls River in Raleigh; East 54 in Chapel Hill; Meadowmont in Chapel Hill (which many consider to be the best-planned communities in the Triangle).

He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed The Executive Program at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Roger has been deeply involved with UNC throughout his career. His service includes the UNC-Chapel Hill Board of Trustees (where he served as Chairman) and the UNC Healthcare Systems Board of Directors.  From October 2017 to December 2022, he served as Co-Chair of the UNC Development Campaign Committee, which raised over $5 billion.  He served on the Board of Visitors, the McAllister Heart Center Board, and the National Development Council at UNC (where he led fundraising for the university’s golf facility). He has also served on the Institute for Arts & Humanities Advisory Board, the Executive Committee of the Center for Real Estate at Kenan-Flagler, and two Chancellor Search Committees.

In the community, Roger currently serves on the board of the Institute for Defense and Business and Messer Construction Co.  Over the years, he has chaired both the Orange County and Triangle chapters of United Way, as well as the Triangle Tomorrow Regional Board.

He served on Chapel Hill’s Downtown Steering Committee, the Triangle J Council of Governments Executive Committee, the Regional Transportation Alliance, and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Collaboration. Additional roles include serving on the Wells Fargo Regional Board, the North Carolina Progress Board, the Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce Board, the YMCA of the Triangle Board, and the Centura Bank Triangle Board, among other civic organizations.

Roger’s work has been recognized with several honors, including the William Richardson Davie Award from the UNC Board of Trustees, the Distinguished Service Medal Citation from the UNC General Alumni Association, and a ULI Award for Excellence. He has been named one of the Triangle’s Most Influential Business Leaders and received the Real Estate CEO of the Year Award from the Triangle Business Journal.  He was the first recipient of the Exceptional Innovation Award from Chapel Hill–based Community Home Trust.

Roger lives in Chapel Hill with his wife, Linda.
